A brief reflection on Christmas decor
A brief reflection on Christmas decor
This is my sketching Christmas decorations to craft with scrap materials and a little imagination.
It is on this page because this really speaks true to my designs as well.
Every year for Christmas I get asked what is the ‘right’ decoration.
But if there was a ‘right’ decoration, we would be producing only one type of decorations…and we’d all have exactly the same Christmas.
I love Christmas, and I love our planet even more.
There is always that tension of interior design and buying a bunch of new things - whether for Christmas or for freshen up the style.
But I do believe that there is much more that we can do, before buying buying buying.
One of my favourite things is seeing how what you have can be reused or repurposed. Which old things - from your family or the wide second hand and antique market - can be making your space feel lived in and decadent.
And of course, when new things come in, they should be tasteful to your personal style.
September always feels like a restart.
👀
We’re lining up collaborations with leading studios to restart fierce.
Exciting projects with suppliers whose collections bring warmth and tactility into interiors are in the pipeline. What a dream offering the kind of coarse, grounding feeling clients will be seeking after summer.
I’ll be sharing more in the coming weeks. For now, I’d love to hear:
What kind of materials or finishes are you most drawn to for autumn projects?
August res(e)t
🌿
Design can be many things. This month, for me, it’s the feeling of this painting: rest.
Materials that calm, layouts that breathe, spaces that hold you.
I’ve been sketching and sourcing with that in mind — thinking of homes, hotels, and shared spaces that feel like retreats rather than obligations.
If your team is planning projects for the autumn season, I’d love to share some of these directions and see where they could meet your needs.
