Residential renovation in Donnybrook, Dublin.
Bohemian Recollection
This project focused on the early-stage design direction for a three-bedroom home, supporting a couple preparing for a growing family.
The scope was defined around two key deliverables: the development of a cohesive mood board and style direction and detailed space planning across the property.
The concept introduced a warm, natural aesthetic built on earthy tones such as terracotta, sage, olive, beige and brown, layered with wood, textured tiles and tactile finishes.
Influences from Uzbek, Indian and Balinese design informed a rich, expressive visual language, creating a cozy, characterful environment with space for art and everyday living. Space planning translated this direction into practical layouts across key areas, balancing storage, circulation and usability within the home’s compact and constrained footprint.
A key challenge emerged in the master bedroom, where limited dimensions and a load-bearing wall restricted both wardrobe space and movement around the bed. The initial risk was the loss of a bedroom to accommodate storage. Through precise planning and targeted design decisions, the layout was optimised to integrate a functional wardrobe within the existing footprint, preserving a comfortable, well-proportioned bedroom and maintaining the overall value and flexibility of the home.
